This show is finally making its way to The Old Mission Santa Barbara, after being delayed due to the numerous COVID lockdowns across the globe. I am so thrilled that we were able to work with the mission to make this exhibit a reality! By the way, this isn’t your ordinary mission…
The Old Mission Santa Barbara is a stunning example of Spanish colonial architecture and a significant part of California’s history. Built in the late 18th century, the mission was established by the Franciscan order to spread Christianity among the local Chumash people. Today, the mission is a popular tourist attraction and cultural center that hosts a variety of events, including our Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibit.

Our Sistine Chapel Exhibit is a unique opportunity to experience Michelangelo’s iconic frescoes Up-Close and personal. The exhibit features life-sized reproductions of the masterpieces that adorn the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, including the famous Creation of Adam and the Last Judgment. Visitors can enjoy an immersive experience that brings these works of art to life, accompanied by an informative audio guide that provides historical and artistic context.

A few years back, we exhibited in another impressive historic venue: The Votivkirche Cathedral in Vienna.. it was such a popular exhibit venue, that we have returned in 2023, you can see the event here.
The Old Mission Santa Barbara provides the perfect setting for the Sistine Chapel Exhibit, with its rich history and stunning architecture. The mission’s distinctive façade features a double bell tower and a colorful array of decorative motifs, including angels, saints, and flowers. Inside, visitors can admire the ornate altars, religious paintings, and other works of art that adorn the church’s walls and ceiling.

The mission also has a rich cultural heritage, reflecting the complex history of the region. Over the years, the mission has survived earthquakes, fires, and other challenges, and has been lovingly restored to its former glory!
